New visiting PGR from Brazil
We welcome Paulo Vitor Guedes de Souza a visiting PGR working with Dr. Patricio Simonetto during this semester. Paulo's visit was possible with the support of CAPES/BRAZIL and Casa de Oswaldo Cruz – Fiocruz.
Paulo Vitor Guedes de Souza is a Doctoral Candidate in the History of Science and Health at the Casa de Oswaldo Cruz – Fiocruz and a Visiting Researcher at the School of Sociology and Social Policy – University of Leeds, funded by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES).
He holds a Master’s degree in History (2022) and a Bachelor’s degree in History with Teaching Qualification (2019), both from the Institute of Human and Social Sciences – UFRRJ, and a Specialization in Human Rights, Gender, and Sexuality (2023) from the Sérgio Arouca National School of Public Health – Fiocruz.
He is a member of the LabQueer – Laboratory for the Study of Gender, Masculinities, and Transgender Relations (UFRRJ/CNPq) and the research group The Physical, the Mental, and the Moral in the History of Medical and Psychological Knowledge (Fiocruz/CNPq). He serves as Junior Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Homocultural Studies – REBEH (Qualis A2) and is a member of the Scientific Council of the Historical Knowledge Forum.
He is affiliated with the National History Association – ANPUH/RJ, the Brazilian Society for Theory and History of Historiography – SBTHH, and the Brazilian Association for Trans-Homocultural Studies – ABETH. He also participates in the Brazilian Network of LGBTQIA+ Historians, the Latin American Network of LGBTQIA+ Archives, Museums, Collections, and Researchers – AMAI LGBTQIA+, the Latin American Network of Theory and History of Historiography – RLTHH, and the Ibero-American Network for the History of Psychiatry – RIHP.
Research interests: Histories of Science; Theories of History; Heterotopologies; Histories of Affections and Emotions; Gender Relations; Cisgender Studies; Queer Theories; Processes of Subjectivation, Subjectivities, and Self-Writings.
